ORAM’s team expands globally as we welcome two incredible interns

Updated: Feb 27, 2023

ORAM is thrilled to announce two new additions to our team who are passionate about our mission and will continue building upon our work globally. Livelihoods Intern, Kennedy Mwangi, and Communications, Development, and Administrative Intern, Lena Kufferman, are ORAM's most recent additions to our small but mighty team.

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Kennedy Mwangi (he/him) joins ORAM as our Livelihoods Intern. Kennedy is passionate about ORAM's mission of protecting LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees globally. He graduated from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Nairobi, where he studied Business Information Technology. Previously, he worked in the Kenyan government under the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as an ICT Support Officer. Bringing experience from the private sector as a former Digital Marketing Officer to his current role as our Livelihoods Intern in Kenya, Kennedy is an important addition to our global team.

Also joining the team as ORAM's Communications, Development, and Administration Intern is Lena Kufferman (she/they). Lena joined ORAM in February and is in her second year at Dartmouth College, where she studies Geography and English. She has a long-standing passion for non-profit work and activism, including her recent work as a fellow at the American Friends Service Committee's Economic Justice Program in Atlanta. While there, she advocated for tenants' rights and housing justice and continues her work of fighting displacement under ORAM's work of empowering LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees.

Please join us in welcoming Kennedy and Lena to the ORAM family. We are thrilled to have these two passionate and dedicated interns join our global team to further our ability to empower and support LGBTIQ refugees and asylum seekers.
