ORAM launches newly designed digital hub for diverse users

Minneapolis, MN (May 17, 2021): On the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, ORAM - Organization for Refuge, Asylum and Migration is proud to announce the launch of its new digital hub website at https://www.oramrefugee.org. ORAM provides support to LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees fleeing persecution and violence globally.

ORAM was selected in a competitive process by JPMorgan Chase’s Force for Good, a social innovation skilled-volunteerism program which develops technology solutions for socially focused organizations. The JPMorgan pro-bono team spent a period spanning eight months, working to produce solutions that benefit ORAM’s work and our clients.

The JPMorgan team assisted ORAM in mapping and designing its digital website to streamline its channel of resources and information to the site’s three main users –LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees, supporters and refugee professionals in the field. The new website presents up-to-date information about ORAM, our work, ways to get involved, critical research and essential asylum information.

One of the most notable features on the website is ORAM’s digital referral database application. Created for the LGBTIQ refugee community, individuals can use this resource to find LGBTIQ verified organizations and support groups globally. The database has over four hundred organizations listed in one hundred and twenty countries around the world. The “Seeking Help” application is available 24/7 and will assist LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees, especially during times of COVID-19, when it is even more difficult to access information in person or anonymously.

"We are thrilled to debut our new website to our clients, partners and supporters who are looking to understand the breadth of ORAM work and services," said Steve Roth, ORAM’s Executive Director. "This website redesign allows ORAM’s wide and diverse users to access critical information, educational webinars, reports and research. Today on IDAHOT, when we take a stand against LGBTIQ-phobia, we are particularly proud of our new referral database – this will help LGBTIQ asylum seekers and refugees fleeing persecution access 24/7 information about verified LGBTIQ friendly services and organizations to help them on their journey to safety.”

“It was an amazing experience working alongside the ORAM team”, said Krishna Sudheer, JPMorgan’s Force for Good Client Lead. “It was a fruitful collaboration, where we united two great teams behind one good cause.”

ORAM's new website will be updated on a regular basis with news about ORAM’s programmatic work, essential asylum information and cutting-edge research and reports on LGBTIQ migration. Visitors are encouraged to explore the website and sign up for ORAM’s monthly newsletter to learn more. _________________________________________________________________________________
