Are you passionate about topics such as migration, refugees and inclusion?

Do you have experience or an interest in communications, digital communication and development for an NGOs? Have you got a great attention to detail? ORAM advocates for the protection of extremely vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers who are fleeing persecution based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity and expression (SOGIE).

This Communications, Development and Administration Internship gives you the opportunity to assist with the development and update content for our website and social media, take part in the development of our communications strategy, complete administrative tasks and report on areas of interest such as human rights, migration, refugees and much more.

Duties include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Assist in the implementation of ORAM’s communication strategy including assisting with ORAM’s social media sites and creating content.

  • Support in the development and design of digital and web, and marketing materials;

  • Provide both technical and editorial website support, updating content, and publishing news stories;

  • Support in brand development strategy

  • Co-organize livestreams and other online events

  • Assisting in researching on donors, funding opportunities

  • Maintaining and updating database of donors and supporting on proposal writing

  • Relationship-building with other California-based refugee/migrants rights organizations

  • Supporting other related works and admin unit

Desired Skills include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • A person who is interested in career in Communications or Development (Communications or Social Sciences are preferable)

  • Strong grasp of social media management and campaign development;

  • Experience with WordPress or web maintenance

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator) skills;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Knowledge of issues facing asylum seekers and refugees
