Pride Along the Border: A Digital Brunch
Join us for an inspiring virtual opportunity on Sunday, June 13th to co-create, connect, and celebrate LGBTIQ Pride and World Refugee Week.
ORAM’s #RefugeePride festival is kicking off with a digital brunch in collaboration with Alight (formerly American Refugee Committee) and some incredible LGBTIQ community members along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Save the Date & Let's Celebrate!
You’re invited to join us live on Zoom as we virtually gather for a meal alongside our community partner and friends at El Jardín de las Mariposas. El Jardín de las Mariposas is a shelter and rehabilitation center for the LGBTIQ community on the move, based in Tijuana, Mexico. Their commitment and daily work addresses issues like human rights, homophobia, transphobia discrimination, and now, a global pandemic.
As part of the “Little Piece of Home” initiative, we're currently infusing sentiments and securities of home by transforming this shelter space and developing tools that support residents to gather in safe, welcoming spaces with access to human-worthy services.
All Are Welcome
Together we’re setting a virtual, decentralized table to co-create a meal in honor of the resilience, beauty, and abundance within the LGBTIQ and displaced communities at El Jardín de las Mariposas – and everywhere around the world. This gathering will convene Tijuana and global community members alongside spirited musical and culinary creatives - unbound by borders - to guide a meaningful conversation about security, belonging, and the importance of cultivating “little pieces of home” wherever we may be. This is a family-friendly event, and we encourage you to share this opportunity with your friends, families, neighbors, and colleagues!
Live captioning and translation in both Spanish and English will be available.
